hey hello hi. after reading a few asks i wanted to see what your opinion on the Sarah X Katherine ship. some people like and hate it- and itâs undoubtedly an 100% fandom invention due to them not even sharing the same media and it being implied they donât even exist in each otherâs universes (Daveyâs Family is kept vague in the musical and pulitzer is much more based upon the real life one in the movie who didnât have a daughter at the time) and idk.
itâs a long running fandom consistency i see of wlw parings getting sidelined or made of convince, and itâs hard to dispute them because in fandom spaces itâs hard enough to get a good wlw pair, and even itâs stretching it a whole lot here. especially with them both bing jackâs love intrests in cannon, feels like a âoh what do we do with them?â to make way for him usually being shipped with Davy or Cruchie.
i donât think itâs an active type of ignorance by most fans at all but itâs not just newsies- itâs in a lot of spaces that ususally have queer relationships as a main fandom focus, and like in the Sprace post- lots of people have a point their mind for those queer relationships and them not being white mlm ususally with specific body and personality types it can be difficult to get real attention for it or justify itâs existence.
sorry for the rambling on, would love to hear someone elsesâs stance.
I MEANT TO ANSWER THIS WEEKS AGO (or whenever this was sent)
send me asks dudes! whatâs up!
you honestly are correct. it is so common in fandom spaces as a whole to consistently center mlm ships based around a piece of mediaâs text and then put the women elsewhere- often into a wlw relationship for diversity win points. and this is so true for katherine and sarah in favor of centering javid mainly.
but what i think is the most annoying part isnât the fact that theyâre put togetherâbecause honestly theyâre a fun pair based on their personalities in newsies.. sarah can be both gentle and quite to the point while katherine is sharp and a bit messyâit is that they are sidelined. katherine, who is literally one of the main characters of newsies like more than davey in terms of plot, and sarah, who was the literal one woman in newsies 1992. they are both genuinely interesting characters that objectively mattered a lot in their respective versions of newsies (YES SARAH MATTERED⌠she spread the childrenâs crusade further through the cityâs more general workforce and helped print it). they have very clear personalities and impacts. and they often just poof away in favor of âthe boysâ or whatever which is very. old fashioned.
i think sarah and kath can be a âforcedâ wlw pair and work because they as characters work wellâ also because the writing of newsies is honestly weak when pairing each of them with jack, like the context we as fans have of them with jack is⌠not very exciting compared to jackâs extensive and more arced relationship with davey within the context for example. but if you pair newsbians for the sole purpose of like. making them go away. then what the actual fuck. you know. because then that really is only seeing mlm ships as what fandom should center or âbe aboutâ. and that doesnât mean more fics have to be About newsbians (though. i mean. yeah), but when theyâre a couple in a fic it should be less of a throwaway like easter egg thingâŚ. because those are two literal prominent characters in the World of newsies so itâd be weird to put them away.
yeahđ¤
#itâs quite annoying and like just.#like you canât totally care about newsboy number 2627283 more than sarah jacobs but at least try not to let it show when u write#there canât be an ââohh idk what to do w herââ when kath n sarah are major pieces of newsiesâ plot lmao? yk what i mean?#they both have more personality than . elmer#YK LMAO#anyway yeah thanks for the ask!#newsies#katherine pulitzer#kath uk is also so much more. more. dynamic and complex too#sarah jacobs#i think davey stories are better when he has a sister close in age to him to have a mirrored experience to his to bounce off of too#fizz answers#analysis#fizz freaks#so glad i am inspiring nuance in other areas of the newsies fandom via the uk!spot post#rizz.analysis

sprace fanfic that nobody asked for
This is part one, I might make a part two to this if yall want.
tw: implied fist fighting, language, violence but not very graphic
Relationships: Sprace, Elbert, Javier, Newsbians
Fandom: newsies
Race had decided at about 8:00 in the morning that it would be a good idea to invite everyone over to his and his best friend Spot's apartment for a party. He went out to get drinks, snacks, and decorations, while Spot worked.
Once everyone started to arrive, the apartment got loud, quick. Race barely noticed that Spot wasn't there. He wouldn't have noticed at all if it weren't for the fact that the whiskey hadn't been touched.
Race started going around asking everyone if they had seen him, as he started to grow worried.
"No, I haven't seen him. Why?" Jack replied when Race frantically asked about Spot
"Because Spot is an idiot and if he's not here, then he's probably in trouble!" Race snapped back, growing more anxious by the second.
"Spot doesn't lose fights. I'm sure he's fine Race. Relax, it's your own party!" Jack said, way to calm for Race's liking.
"Well what if he gets ganged up on? What if he gets hurt? I'm going looking for him!" Race ran to the door, put his puffy black coat on, and shot out the door.
He made his way to the Brooklyn Bridge, knowing that's where Spot hangs out. He absolutely could not believe his eyes at the sight in front of him. Oscar and Morris Delancey getting the shit beat out of them by Spot.
"Spot what the hell are you doing?" Race exclaimed, knowing that could not end well.
"They decided to insult you in front of me. I was not about to let that slide," Spot shot back, stepping away from Morris, who earned himself a black eye.
"Spot! You're gonna get hurt!" Race cried, before noticing that he had in fact already gotten hurt. "Holy shit Spot! You look like hell!" Race yelled, getting irritated at the sight.
"Why do you care? What do you have a crush on me?" Spot joked, but the color suddenly drained out of Race's face.
"W-wh- huh? Uh, no," Race stuttered.
"Ya see, I don't think you're telling me the truth, Higgins," Spot shot back, raising an eyebrow. Spot also, maybe, had a teensy, tiny, little, not so little crush on Race.
"Fine alright? I like you! A lot! Now please let me take you to the apartment, so we can clean your wounds up. Deal?"
"Higgins... I like you too. A lot. I have since high-school, through college, when we moved in together to save money, I liked you through it all," Spot shot back, completely ignoring the Delanceys behind him.
"Can we please go home?" Race said, hating the fact that Spot was hurt right now.
"Sure Higgins."

requesting javid halloween hcs while im at it. yes. halloween
we stan the holiday crossover đ
also tw: alcohol/drunk people cause â¨itâs party timeâ¨
is it modern again? of course it is im writing it
ok so theyâre seniors in college
mostly cause i cant be bothered to deal with the consequences of underage drinking at 2am (say no to drugs kids)
jack is a cowboy, obviously
davey wears a white shirt with âNaâ written on it and âis saltyâ cause why wouldnât he be a science pun
the newsbians had desperately tried to get them to do a couples costume but they couldnât agree on anything (aka jack was stuck on being a cowboy for the 15th year in a row and davey refused)
with the chaos of race, albert and roles combined with the logical planning of katherine, sarah and specs, a real halloween party was both put together and thrown without any massive mishaps or casualties
jack, ever the heavyweight, is just past tipsy after way too many shots trying to out-drink albert (he succeeded, but will have the worst hangover of his life come november 1st. albert, the lucky bastard, doesnât get hangovers.)
davey is slightly buzzed after one shot and several whiteclaws cause heâs a basic bitch and itâs making him way more affectionate than usual
itâs also easier for jack to convince him to come dance than it usually is
so that is how davey and jack ended up in the middle of a way too packed living room slow dancing to a trap song because theyâre That Coupleâ˘ď¸
also itâs the only dance that isnât provacative that lets them be pressed as close together as possible
race sees them and goes to the speaker blasting music and plays âall of meâ by john legend and demands a cute couple-y moment from the crowd
he happens to know this is âtheir songâ too
daveyâs whole face lights up and he pulls jack impossibly closer, leaning down so their cheeks are pressed together and his mouth is at jackâs ear
âwhat would i do without your smart mouth...â
and he singing along to the whole song quietly, making a cute moment impossibly more tender
jack grabs his face at the end and drags him into a searing kiss in front of god and everybody
they gets cheers and teasing remarks from their friends but they donât even notice cause theyâre too wrapped up in eachother
ok

Marked For You
((Am I writing a post-strike javid soulmates AU with several background ships? Possibly! No one asked for this but yâall canât stop me.))
...
Davey liked to think that being among the Newsies, he was bolder than before. He didnât scare as easily and he wasnât afraid to stand up for what he believed in or be himself unapologetically.
After all, that was what all the Newsies were; themselves. They didnât care what each other thought, not that any of them ever seemed to seriously judge the others. Each Newsie was openly himself or herself, plain and simple.
This kind of unjudging openness that Davey knew and loved didnât mean he wasnât shocked as hell when he and some of the fellas were talking, like they did practically every day, and the conversation turned to soulmates and soulmarks.
Soulmarks were a stripe of color on the inside of your wrist, said to be the color that represented who your soulmate was on a fundamental level. Their soul-color.
Daveyâs soulmark was a bright, clear blue, like the sky on a clear summer day.
To be fair, the person Davey had been before meeting the Newsies probably would have completely freaked out at what the fellas were talking about. Davey managed to only be moderately surprised and kind of confused.
Because Race was talking about how his soulmark was dark red, the same color as Spotâs favorite shirt, and it just represented him so well andâ
âHold up,â Davey interrupted, âYour soulmate is Spot Conlon?â
âYeah. Why?â
âAre... are you sure?â
âOf course. Um... itâs not a new thing. Weâs both known for months.â
All the fellas had guarded looks on their faces. Like they didnât known how Davey was going to react and it scared them.
Davey had, of course, heard of people having same-sex soulmates. Most people seemed to regard it as wrong for some reason, but...
No one chose their soulmates. All scientists seemed to agree on that.
So why should something you had no control over be regarded as wrong, especially when soulmates were the kind of love that made each other happy?
Now that Davey was thinking about it, blue wasnât a common color documented to represent a girl.
The idea of his soulmate being a boy didnât freak him out as much as it probably should.
âI didnât think the King of Brooklyn was the lovinâ type.â
Everyone visibly relaxed.
âYouâd be surprised,â Race said with an uncharacteristically soft smile, âHe kinda freaked out on me at first, but we talked it over after he got some time to process, weâs been together nearly a year now, and... heâs good to me.â
âHe better be,â Romeo said, âOr Manhattanâd go to war.â
Albert snorted, âHalf the Newsies of New York would. Racer, ya got a shit ton of friends.â
âHeh. True. There might actually be enough of ya to stand a chance against Brooklyn.â
âBold of ya to assume half the Brooklyn boys wouldnât be on your side,â Jojo pointed out.
Davey had to admit, he couldnât think of a single Newsie who wouldnât beat up someone stupid enough to break Raceâs heart.
Ike shrugged, âHotshotâd probably side with Spot. Sorry, Race. Oh! Davey, Hotshotâs mine, by the way.â
Ike showed his red soulmark, a brighter scarlet than Raceâs. Hell, the thing was so bright, it practically glowed in the late afternoon sun.
Seeing Mikeâs, which was electric blue, Davey wondered how heâd ever had trouble telling the twins apart.
Mike noticed him looking and grinned, throwing an arm around Jojo, who blushed a little. His soulmark was an almost-golden shade of yellow that Davey had to admit suited Mike well.
Of course, it did make him curious, how heâd always heard of people with same-sex soulmates as a rarity, an anomaly that barely ever happened.
And here was 6 that he knew personally. Probably more, now that he was thinking about it, looking back on the way certain pairs of his friends acted.
âHow common is it?â he asked finally, âI always heard of same-sex soulmates as rare, butââ
Blink snorted, âIt ainât. Not as much as theyâd have ya believe, anyhow.â
His fingers brushed over a mint green soulmark gently.
âYeah, mineâs Finch,â Albert said, displaying a mark the color of sage.
Romeo grinned, showing his, which was an indigo halfway between blue and purple, âTake a guess.â
Looking back on casual touches that werenât as hidden as they probably should be, for safety reasons, Davey realized that he was an idiot for not having realized it sooner.
âSpecs?â
âBingo! Ya got in in one!â
âAnd Blink... Iâm guessinâ... Mush?â
Blink shrugged sheepishly.
Davey really felt like an idiot for not fully registering until right now how defensive, tough Kid Blink was soft and gentle with Mush in a way he wasnât with anyoneânot even the littles.
âWhat about you?â Romeo asked, âYa know who yours is, yet?â
Davey shrugged helplessly, âYour guess is as good as mine.â
âWell, show us the mark!â Ike urged, âWe canât guess if we donât see the color!â
The others voiced their agreement until Davey extended his forearm towards them.
Honestly, his was probably the brightest and most defined of any of them, besides Ikeâs.
Everyone went silent, and Davey knew his friends well enough to know that they werenât quiet simply because they were thinking.
They knew something he didnât.
âWhat?â he finally asked after a good 20 seconds.
âYa really donât see it?â Mike asked.
âI donât think he does,â Albert admitted, stealing Raceâs cigar.
Race stole the cigar back, âTragic.â
âWhat do you all see that I donât?â
âYa know, it took me a while to figure out mine,â Jojo admitted, âI was raised to think lovinâ a boy would land ya in hell. But I still knew within a couple weeks, if ya donât count how long it took me to accept it. Honestly, Davey, youâs known him for months. How havenât ya realized yet?â
âYou mean itâs one of the Newsies?â
Everyone groaned.
âDavey, whoâs the one person who pops into your head when you think âbout love?â Romeo asked, âJust off the top of your head?â
Davey didnât want to admit who his first thought was.
âI donât know,â he lied, âIn my defense, I didnât even consider it beinâ a boy before today.â
âWhen ya find your soulmate, you know,â Blink said firmly, âItâs undeniable. Ya donât know how ya know, but ya do. If youâs felt that and seen that color and still donât know who it is, youâs the biggest dumbass in New York.â
Romeo swatted in Blinkâs direction, âLighten up, Blink. Itâs cute in a frustratinâ kind of way.â
âMaybe we shouldnât tell him,â Ike said mischeviously, âThis is betterân watchin Race pine over Spot and yet not tell him that the light blue on his wrist is him.â
Race rolled his eyes, âLike you tellinâ Hotshot right outta the gate worked. He avoided ya for 6 months after findinâ out that stupid purple mark was you.â
âIt ainât that purple, Racer. Itâs mostly blue.â
âStill donât go with Brooklynâs red shirts all that well.â
Davey ignored the others breaking up the budding argument in favor of trying to think. One face did pop into his mind whenever he thought about love, but there was no way he was that lucky.
âThink, Davey,â Jojo urged as soon as the group got back on track.
âYeah,â Race agreed, âWhoâs the one person with a soul like the sky?â
Davey really didnât want to admit it, but he knew.
The sky was always there when you looked up to see it as Jack Kelly was always there for his friends when they needed him.
âJack,â he whispered, and the others grinned.
âSo, what are ya waitinâ for?â Mike asked, âGo get the boy!â
âI canât,â Davey protested, âHe might be my soulmate, but thereâs no way Iâm his! Heâs courted Sarah and Katherine!â
âThat ainât how it works, Davey,â Blink said, âYeah, Jack courted Katherine and Sarah, but do ya really think that periwinkle stripe on Kathâs wrist is for him? Or the pinkish-red on Sarahâs, huh? Thatâs real Jack-like, is it?â
âJust cause Sarah or Kath ainât Jackâs soulmate doesnât mean his is a boy,â Davey pointed out, âJack doesnât even like boys!â
Albert rolled his eyes, âYa really think that?â
âI know he donât.â
âDavey, let me tell ya somethinâ,â Ike said, âJust cause Jack likes girls donât mean he doesnât like boys. It ainât gotta be one or the other.â
âYa think I only flirt with one?â Romeo asked.
Now that Davey was thinking about it, Romeo and Race pretty much flirted with everyone.
Race laughed, âI donât think weâs ever told him that Jack and Spot was a thing, did we?â
âThey what now?â
âIt didnât last long,â Romeo laughed, âBarely a week, and I thinks it was just angrily makinâ out, but it happened.â
âThat was a weird week,â Jojo agreed.
âHe had a crush on Specs a few years ago,â Ike added, âThat was âfore Romeo came along, of course.â
Mike started laughing even harder than he already was, making Jojo smile all sappy at him, âI remember that!â
Davey tried to process this new information.
âPoint is,â Blink said, âJack likes girls and boys. And weâs known him a lot longer than you.â
âThe color on his wrist definitely ainât for Kath or Sarah,â Race summed up.
âWhat... what is it?â
Race patted his knee, âFor that answer, youâll have to ask Jackie Boy, himself.â
âAsk me what?â
The other boys exchanged delighted glances as Jack walked in, a bit of paint on his cheek from spending some time at Meddaâs theatre.
âLook at the time,â Jojo said, ignoring the fact that he did not have a watch, âI think weâd best be gettinâ to bed.â
Mike raised an eyebrow suggestively, making Jojo swat his arm in exasperation, but the two of them left in the same direction, hand in hand.
âJust remembered,â Race said, popping to his feet, âI told Spot Iâd spend the night in Brooklyn. Gotta go if I wanna not be walkinâ in the dark.â
âMind if I come with?â Ike asked.
âThe more the merrier! Iâm sure Hotshotâll be happy to see ya.â
âMake good choices,â Jack said pointedly, but he didnât stop them, indicating that those pairings really had been going on for a while.
God, how many times had Ike or Race or both blatantly said they were going to Brooklyn when they left a card game or hangout? How was Davey just noticing this now?
Blink, Albert, and Romeo quickly made up bullshit excuses to leave.
Davey didnât miss how Romeo mouthed a quick âgood luckâ to him as he went out the door.
Unfortunately, neither did Jack.
âSo, whatâs that about?â he asked, seeming more amused than suspicious or anything.
âWe was just talkinâ about something,â Davey said, feeling strangely awkward.
âWhat kind of somethinâ?â
âUm... soulmates. That kind of thing.â
âOh.â
The air between them was charged suddenly.
âWhat about âem?â Jack asked, sitting down next to Davey.
âUm...â Davey took a deep breath, âAbout how they think they know who mine is.â
Jack didnât look him in the eye, and his response was almost too quiet to hear.
âWho?â
For some reason, Davey couldnât outright just say it.
He turned his wrist so that Jack could see his mark, bright, vibrant blue.
He thought maybe something like recognition flashed through the other boyâs eyes.
âItâs someone whoâs always there when the people he loves need him,â Davey said softly, âYou know how you can always look up and see the sky if ya need to? Heâs like that.â
âReally?â
âYeah. Itâs one of the things I like most about him.â
âWhat if he wasnât?â Jack muttered, âWhat if there was a day the people he loved needed to see the sky more than ever and it wasnât there?â
Davey remembered the terror after the first day of the strike. Crutchie was arrested, everyone was hurt, and few of the fellas were still MIA. Davey only had a few bruises, so he and a couple others had had to go find them.
Davey remembered finding Elmer unconscious in an alley. He remembered Buttonsâs worry when he managed to wake him up and drag him back to the Lodging House, how panicked heâd obviously been, and now was wondering if those two had something going on.
That day, everyone had needed Jack, and he wasnât there. That was true. Theyâd had to rely on Davey and Race and whoever else was unhurt enough to help them, then later, Katherine, when she showed up and nobody asked how she got that much medical supplies.
But every other day since then that Davey had been with the Newsies, Jack had been there, tirelessly comforting his friends after bad dreams, patching up scraped knees, making sure everybody had food in their stomachs and a roof over their heads. And he didnât always have enough time to take care of everyone, but he sure did his damn best.
Davey reached over and intertwined Jackâs fingers with his own.
To his relief, the other boy squeezed back, just a little.
âMaybe he needs to take care of himself, too, once in a while,â he said, âMaybe everyone survived without the sky for a little bit, so there was no harm done. And Jackie... that was months ago. It doesnât change the fact that youâve been there every day since long before the strike and every day since then.â
Jack was silent for a second before he exhaled sharply and shoved his arm in Daveyâs direction.
The strip of color on his wrist was clear blue. It was the sky on ice cold clear winter days. It was the cover of a book with characters you could relate to. It was a shade of paint Davey had seen in Jackâs backdrops many times.
Davey didnât really know why, but the color was undeniably him.
âJack...â
Jack looked at him, his eyes as soft as the tone in Daveyâs voice.
âI knew since day one.â
âWhy didnât ya say anything?â
âI didnât wanna scare you.â
Davey laughed, âJack Kelly, if there is one thing youâve never been to me, itâs scary.â
It was true. Jack had always felt safe, even when Davey was trying to avoid him out of pride.
Unfortunately, safe was the last thing whatever this thing between them was.
âHow does it work?â
âWhat?â
âHow does it work?â Davey repeated, âHow do they do it? Race and Spot. Mike and Jojo. Blink and Mush. All the other pairs.â
âThey be careful,â Jack answered, âIf needed, the rest of us try and help cover for âem.â
âCan you be careful?â
A smile formed on Jackâs lips, âI know you can... how do ya think I stayed out of the Refuge so long after escapinâ?â
Davey rolled his eyes. Jack still liked to bring up his grand escape.
âHey, Davey... can I try something?â
Daveyâs heart was in his throat. His chest was so tight he could barely breathe.
Still, he nodded.
Blink had said that when you met your soulmate, you knew.
Davey didnât think heâd known before now. At least, not consciously.
But he definitely knew now, because it felt right. He knew because Jackâs lips against his own was the most natural thing in the world.
He didnât think heâd ever want to kiss anyone else.
He didnât know how he hadnât always known that Jack was his soulmate.
Because the color on his wrist was Jack, and the color in Jackâs was him. They were quite literally made for each other.

The Hospital Conversation
âDo you regret it?â She asks. The silver edge in her voice is gone, and this is a side of her that I saw only a few times. A side that feels overwhelmed by hopelessness, a side that is being crushed by the sheer weight of the world. âLoving a dying girl? Loving me?â âNever.â Itâs almost as though the steel has gone form her voice to mine. Iâve never been so certain of something in my life. âIâd do it again. And again, and again, and again, until the end of time. Nothing could ever make me regret loving you." ------------------- Sarah and Katherine talk.
cw: hospitals, past major character death, implied eating disorder
relationships: Sarah Jacobs/Katherine Pulitzer
word count: 853
Ao3 link
I stare at the bed. There are no signs that anyone was ever there, the bed neatly made and the pale blue sheets perfectly flat. The uneaten food that had sat by her elbow everyday has been taken away. The room is clean, impersonal, the âGet Well Soon!â cards, and the teddy bears and the flowers sheâd collected over the last few weeks having all disappeared.
There is no sign of her.
Iâm not sure when I dropped to my knees, or when the tears started rolling down my cheeks.
âMaâam?â I donât turn around, but I recognise the voice of her nurse. âIâm afraid I have to ask you to leave in a few minutes.â Thereâs a moment of silence, and then he adds, âAnd Iâm very sorry. I really am.â The swish of his coat and the subsequent silence tells me that heâs left me alone once more.
I draw a shaky breath, biting my lip so hard that my mouth fills with the metallic taste of blood. I am all cried out, now.
I cast one last look at the room, my eyes sweeping over the empty bed, the bare table and the plain walls. My gaze lingered on the bed one last time.
I could still see her there. Far too thin, like a living skeleton. Her hair, loose around her shoulders, thin and brown. Throughout her life, she had been immaculate, even when messy. Seeing her in a state like this, so weak and fragile almost breaks my heart all over again.
âSarah,â I breathe. I donât expect a reply, of course, but she says something anyway. She never was one to follow others expectations.
âLove,â she says, softly. Her voice is how I remember it, overflowing with kindness and flowing like water, with a steel edge that could kill you in a moment, if she wanted.
âSarah,â I repeat. I stumble forwards, and it takes all my energy not to collapse into her arms. âI miss you.â
She laughs a sad laugh, the sort of laugh you laugh when youâre trying not to cry. âIâve only been gone an hour.â
âOnly?â I laugh too now, through the tears that have started to fall again. âIt feels as though youâve been gone a hundred years.â
Sarah smiles gently. She reaches out with her hand, as though to tuck my hair behind my ear - a familiar gesture she would use to comfort me - but she pulls back at the last second. We are so close, and yet we can both feel the distance of death between us.
Thereâs a beat, where we both just look at each other.
âI love you,â I say, my voice broken and desperate. âI love you. I love you, so much.â
âI love you too.â There are tears shining in Sarahâs eyes, and suddenly I want nothing more than to envelope her in my arms one last time.
Iâd give anything to have another hour with her. One hour more. One hour to tell her everything I never got to. One hour to hold her, and for her to hold me. Just one is all that I would ask for.
âDo you regret it?â Sarah asks. The silver edge in her voice is gone, and this is a side of her that I saw only a few times. A side that feels overwhelmed by hopelessness, a side that is being crushed by the sheer weight of the world. âLoving a dying girl? Loving me?â
âNever.â Itâs almost as though the steel has gone form her voice to mine. Iâve never been so certain of something in my life. âIâd do it again. And again, and again, and again, until the end of time. Nothing could ever make me regret loving you, Sarah.â
âThank you.â Sarah reaches up to my face, her hand hovering over my cheek. The air is ice-cold and slightly damp, like a dewy lawn in the early hours of the dawn. âThank you, Katherine. For everything.â And somehow, I know that she doesnât just mean the hospital visits, and the flowers and the chocolates.
âThank you for loving me,â I say.
âIt was my honour,â she says.
When she leaves, it isnât slow. One moment she is there, and she is looking at me with so much love in her eyes, and then the next Iâm facing an empty bed. I run my hands over where Sarah had been sat, tears dripping onto the blankets and leaving small, wet circles.
I whisper her name one more time, before taking a long breath.
I donât look back as I leave, the tears still flowing steadily down my face.
----------
I hover somewhere between Earth and the Afterlife. I watch as Katherine sinks into Seanâs arms outside my room, and as they both crumpled.
Every cell in my body is burning with the want to go to her, but I canât.
The scene gets smaller as I rise, but the image remains steadily in my head.
A small smile drifts across my face. It was truly an honour of mine to have loved her.

Iâm not too big on it but Iâve procrastinated long enough so here it is.Â
Sarah didnât have to wonder why she always found herself staring at Katherine. It started out as stolen glances from across the room. Then, it escalated to what she was doing now: flat-out staring at her in the middle of class. Of course, she would look away before Katherine caught her, but how could she not look at Katherine? She was beautiful. Funny, too, not to mention. Sarah was just obsessed with the idea of Katherine as her girlfriend. She knew, though, that Katherine wouldnât feel the same way. Still, being friends with her wasnât so bad, was it?
Katherine was waiting for class to be over so she could hang out with her friends. The last class of the day always felt like the longest. She just wanted to see everyone at Jacobiâs like she always did. Jack, Davey, Race, SarahâŚespecially Sarah. Katherine liked Sarah. She found it easier to be in Sarahâs company compared to the others. They were honestly too rowdy for her sometimes. Sometimes, though, she did like to join in the fun. Other times, they were too much. Sarah, though, was always up to going somewhere else when that happened. Lately, though, she started acting weird and flaked out.Â
When the bell rang, Sarah shot out the door. She made it halfway down the hallway before Katherine caught up with her.Â
âHey, Sarah,â Katherine said, trying to get Sarah to talk to her. âWhatâs the plan for this afternoon?â
Sarah shifted in her shoes. âUmâŚstudying.â
âNeed some help?â
Sarah shook her head. âIâm fine. You should catch up with the others.â She went to walk away, but Katherine caught her arm.
âWhy have you been so awkward with me lately?â Katherine asked. âDid I do something wrong?â
âNo,â Sarah said, shaking her head. âItâs not you, itâs justâŚ.â
âJust what?â Katherine watched how shaky Sarah was. She never acted like this before. âHey, whatâs wrong?â
âNothing. Forget I said anything.â Sarah tried to walk again but was once again stopped by Katherine.
âSarah, whatâs wrong? You can talk to me.â
Sarah, rather defeatedly, gave in to Katherineâs offer. âCan we not do it here?â
âOf course,â Katherine agreed, following Sarah to her car. She got in the passenger side and waited for Sarah to get in before speaking again. âSo whatâs up?â
Sarah sat on her shaky hands. âLately, the reason Iâve been soâŚflakeyâŚis becauseâŚ.â She let out a dejected sigh.
âGo on,â Katherine said.
âI like you, okay?â She said softly, almost as if she was scared of saying it.
Katherine, though surprised, was relieved to hear that it wasnât something she did. She did, however, feel sad that Sarah didnât think she could come to her sooner.
âAnd,â Sarah continued, âI just didnât want you to not feel the same way.â She kept her head down.
Katherine felt bad that Sarah was scared the way she was. She leaned over and hugged her friend. âOf course I feel the same way, Sarah. How could I not?â
Sarah wrapped her arms around Katherine, hugging her back. âReally?â
âReally.â Katherine pulled back, and she looked into Sarahâs eyes. She smiled, taking into account how close their lips were.Â
Sarah noticed the distance between their faces and smiled back, meeting her eyes. She saw Katherine lean in ever so slightly as if she was making sure Sarah was okay with it. She happily leaned in and met Katherineâs lips. Her worries of rejection faded and she felt the joy inside of her flourish.
Katherine smiled into Sarahâs lips. âSo you think we should tell the others or wait for them to figure it out?â
âLetâs go meet up with them and see how long it takes.â Sarah started the car and drove to Jacobiâs, the groupâs unofficial hang-out spot. She pulled into the parking lot and parked the car. âLetâs go,â she said, hopping out of the car. She grabbed Katherineâs hand and pulled her inside. âHey, guys,â she said.
âHey, Sarah,â Jack said, completely oblivious to Katherine and Sarah holding hands. âYouâre peppier than youâve been in a while.â
Sarah ran up to Davey, letting go of Katherineâs hand. âHello, baby brother.â
Davey, who was obviously not used to her dramatic affection, furrowed his eyebrows. âH-hello?â
âSeriously, what has you all happy and stuff?â Race asked, stealing a sip of coke from Spotâs glass. He avoided Spotâs hand. âThe last time anyone was this happy was when I won that lottery a few months ago.âÂ
âYou got $25 Race,â Finch teased. âYou didnât win.âÂ
Race stared at his friend. âI got money, so I won.âÂ
Finch rolled his eyes. âSeriously, though, Sarah. What has you in such a good mood. You havenât been like this in forever. What changed?âÂ
âNothing,â Sarah said, sitting down in a chair. âJust in a better mood today.âÂ
Katherine sat beside her and pulled her phone out. She picked her legs up and swung them onto Sarahâs lap. She was teasing them now, trying to get them to get what was going on.Â
Sarah, who knew what Katherine was up to, tried to discreetly observe all of their faces. She scrolled through her phone as well, occasionally taking glances to see if they caught on.Â
Katherine grew frustrated after 10 minutes and walked to the bathroom. Once Katherine was gone, Romeo spoke up. âSoâŚare you two a thing, orâŚ?âÂ
âShut up,â Race said, rolling his eyes at Romeo. He looked at Sarah, expecting her agreement, but saw her grin. His eyes widened. âShut up!âÂ
âAbout time,â Albert said. âWhen did that happen?â
Sarah laughed. âLike, 20 minutes ago.â
Race leaned in, almost falling off of his chair. âDetails. Now.â
Sarah was getting ready to speak, but Katherine walked back into the room. She pulled Katherineâs chair closer to her. âWeâre busted.âÂ
âWhy didnât you tell us?â Race demanded.
âBecause it literally just happened!â Katherine responded. âWe literally walked in here holding hands. Not even 20 minutes agoâ.â She stopped herself.
Race sat up. âOh hell no. You have to tell us now.â
âLetâs not,â Davey suggested. âI donât want to hear what my sister does in her free time.â
Sarah looked at her brother. âIf I actually cared enough, I would get up and slap you.â When he stuck his tongue out, she laughed and met it with her finger.
âWoah, Sarah!â Spot exclaimed. He pointed at Race. âChildren present.â
Race faked being hurt and slapped his boyfriend on the shoulder. âYouâve done worse things in front of me. Donât even start that âchildren presentâ crap.â
âThatâs it,â Davey said. âCan we please get off this subject?â
Katherine laced her fingers in Sarahâs. âYes, please.â
Race is the #1 Kath/Sarah shipper and you can fight me on it. You have to pry that idea out of my cold dead hands.

I really liked this one, so it is about a 2.1k fic, which really sucks, so yeah.
Canât Keep Kissing Strangers
âDavey, how long are you going to be in there for? Itâs already been ten minutes.â Jack knocked on the door of the bathroom.
âIâm getting ready. Iâll be out in just a second,â Davey promised. He slimmed down his hair, one last time before appearing in the hallway. He pressed his hair down before turning to Jack, who was leaning against the hallway. âDo I look okay?â
âYou look great Davey.â Jack said, fighting the urge to bite his lip. Jack thought Davey looked really good with his hair gelled back and a tie- even if he wore that every day. âWhere are you going that you have to get all dressed ?â Jack asked. He waited with in the hallway with Davey, as the other boy straightened his tie and pressing his hair down, looking at his reflection in the hallway mirror, even though he just came out of the bathroom.
âIâm going out on a date with Mike tonight. You wouldnât know him- new guy.â
âI thought you went on a date with Jordan last night, and Correy the night before, and Jeremy the night before that. What happened to them?â
âIt didnât work out.â Davey said, offhandedly. âIâll be home around-â
âWait, Davey, youâre telling me that after going out with five different guys, five nights in a row, you havenât found someone that you want to go out on a second date with?â Jack asked, concerned. Davey hadnât been himself lately. It was like he was rarely ever home and when he wasnât very talkative, which wasnât very normal for the walking mouth. It was like Jack had lost a friend- he hadnât had a straight-up conversation with the other boy in the week. If Jackâs suspicions were right, that Davey was trying to avoid him, then Jack had no idea what he would do. Davey had been his best friend ever since high school, he couldnât lose him now. It also didnât help that Jack had been head-over-heels for Davey, ever since junior year in highschool. Somethingâs he just couldnât outgrow.
âWhatâs wrong with that?â Davey asked, a little bit on edge. He had no intention of telling Jack anything- especially when it came so close what he was trying to hide. âI just havenât found the right guy, yet.â
âThereâs nothing wrong with it, Dave. Itâs just that you went from not really getting many dates, to having a ton of them all at once, and I havenât really talked to you in a while.â Jack said. âIâm just wondering if youâre okay.â
âWell, Iâm fine. Nothingâs wrong, Jack. Letâs just drop the subject.â Â Davey said, tucking in his shirt. His voice seemed cold and distant.
âDavey, are you sure? Itâs like youâve been avoiding me. Where are you meeting all these guys, anyways?â
âJack, I donât know what youâre talking about. Itâs almost like youâre jealous of me.â
âDave I ainât-â
âNo, Jack.â Davey said. His voice grew progressively louder as he continued talking. âI havenât had a date in months, before a few nights ago. So, just be happy for me, okay? You could get just as many guys and girls to go on a date with you if you at least tried.â
âIâm not jealous Davey. Iâm just worried for you. Itâs just thatâŚâ Jack said, trying to come up with a good reason to not be jealous. In fact, he was very jealous, but not in the way that Davey thought. Jack was jealous that Davey wasnât going on dates with him. Â
âThis isnât you.â
Then, he said it. Jack fucked up. Big time. He hadnât even meant to say it, but there were the words coming out of his mouth. There was no fixing it. He couldnât take his words back, now.
Daveyâs face turned to a bright angry red color, as he took a deep breath, trying calm himself.
âIâm going to go spend the night at Sarahâs, okay?â Davey said, his voice restrained. Dave turned around grabbing his keys on the kitchen table and heading towards the front door. He couldnât even bring himself to look at Jack, let alone talk to him. It was just too painful.
âI donât know when Iâll come back- if I do.â Davey paused at the door, before making his way out of the house, slamming the door behind him. He ignored the rain, coming down, not even bothering to bring a jacket. He could care less at this point.
Jack was right that Davey was ignoring him, but it wasnât in the way Jack thought. Davey was ignoring him, because of his feelings for Jack. He had to stop them, and thatâs what he hoped dating someone other than Jack would do, but he had only found people that reminded him of Jack.
David sighed wishing he could forget that he had ever even had feelings for Jack in the first place. It was only damaging to their friendship, that Davey couldnât afford to lose. He just wished he could wave a magic wand and fix it, but that was impossible.
Jack certainly had the right to be angry at him. Itâs not like Jack had no idea why Davey was going out with any boy interested, enough to even talk to him- he couldnât explain it to him. It was just too much to explain to your best friend that you were in love with them and dating a ton of other guyâs to try and forget your feelings. It would have made to awkward of  a conversation, especially when Jack certainly wasnât reciprocating Daveyâs feelings.
Davey had crashed at Sarahâs, hours ago, where he was now watching cheesy batman movies, that did nothing to help his situation. They only seemed to remind him of Jack in one way or another.
âDavey, youâve been sitting on the couch moping for hours.â Sarah said, from the kitchen.
âSo?â
âSo, I made us some ice cream.â Sarah said, standing over Davey as he lay on the couch. âNow budge over or you wonât get any.â Davey scooched over and Sarah fell back onto the couch. She handed Davey a spoon, as they dug into the ice cream together.
âWhat are you so sad about?â
Davey turned to Sarah. âYou seriously donât know?â
âI have an idea, but I donât just wanna assume.â
âWell, youâre right.â
âHow do you know what Iâm thinking, Davey?â
âThe same way you know what Iâm thinking, Sarah.â
âTouche.â Sarah said, eating another scoop of ice cream in her mouth. âSo what happened between you and Jack?â
âWellâŚâ Davey said, taking another bite of ice cream. He really didnât want to have to talk to Sarah about it, but she deserved to know. You canât just come barging into someoneâs home asking to spend the night, not ready to give an explanation? It just wasnât right in Daveyâs mind. âEveryday since Sunday, Iâve been going on dates with a different guy, and Jack was asking me why and I got all defensive, and I ended up saying some things I didnât mean and Jack said I wasnât acting like normal, so I just left and came here.â
âWell, why are you going on a ton of dates?â Sarah asked, nudging his toe, with hers.
Davey sighed. âI know Jack doesnât like me and wonât really appreciate that fact, so Iâm dating other guys, hoping I can forget about my feelings.â
âAnd so why was he angry at you for dating a ton of guys?â
âHeâs jealous that he doesnât have a date.â
âYou mean a date with you?â
âOh shut up Sarah,â Davey said, gently pushing her. No matter how sad he was feeling, Sarah could make him feel better. It was a special sibling thing they shared. Like the way they were able to tell what the other was thinking or the way they would say the same word at the same time- it was just something normal they had always shared.
âDavey, whereâd you get the idea that Jack doesnât like you?â
âFrom the many times he has shown interest in other people.â
âDavey, youâre an idiot. He just doesnât want to ask you, yet. He doesnât want to risk your friendship.â
âWhatever.â
âIâm right, Davey. Kathâs right. Weâve been telling you for ages, that Jack likes you.â
âWho says that you two are right?â
âWe were right about Spot and Race, werenât we?â
âYeah, but that was lucky.â
âDavey, are you going to tell Jack?â
âNo.â
âYou should. Itâll be good to get off your chest and he wonât hate you. Heâs bi, himself, and youâre already out. Youâve got this.â
âYou really think he wonât hate me?â
âJack canât hate you Dave. Youâve been best friends since third grade. Youâve known each other for too long.â
âBut-â
âDavey just go and tell him. Kath and I are sick of hearing about how you pine over Jack, every single time you come over.â
âOkay, okay. Iâll tell him.â Davey said, getting up and grabbing his keys from the kitchen table. He felt his stomach twist in a knot, but if what Sarah said was true then maybe it was worth it.
âCall me. I want to know how it goes, okay?â Sarah stood up and hugged her brother. âYouâll do fine. I believe in you.â
Davey knocked on his door, waiting for Jack to answer it. He hoped Jack would still be awake around this time- he usually was.
âHello- oh-â The door opened to reveal a shocked Jack. âUhâŚ. Davey come in.â
Davey stepped into the warm and familiar home, but he felt like everything about the place had changed a bit since he had left.
âLook Davey, Iâm sorry about what I said earlier. I didnât mean it. I just-â
âNo. Iâm sorry, Jack,â Davey said, cutting Jack off. He started drumming his fingers against his leg, just too nervous needing something to do with his hands. âThis is all my fault. I didnât tell you the truth and I- I canât keep lying to you about this. I understand if you donât reciprocate my feelings or if you donât want to be friends anymore, but I love you, Jack, and I canât stop.â
âDave, I- IâŚâ Jack still had his mouth open, yet no words were coming out. Behind Davey could tell Jack was thinking of a thousand things to say, just by one look into his eyes, and he already knew that Sarah was wrong.
âDonât be afraid to tell me the truth, Jack.â Davey said, staring down at his feet, embarrassed. âbecause, I canât keep kissing strangers and pretending that theyâre you.!â
Jack grabbed Daveyâs collar and kissed him. It took Davey a few seconds to gain his groundings and realise what was happening. Jack Kelly was kissing him. Davey had no idea what to think, but he kissed back no matter the less. If Jack Kelly wanted to kiss him, who was he to protest.
Davey made a soft moan sound when Jack flicked his tongue against his lips, which just invites Jack to deepen the kiss even more. Davey reached up to wrap his arms around Jackâs neck, running his hand through his hair.
âDavey-â Jack said, breathing heavily, as he pulled his lips away from Daveyâs. He touched their foreheads together, closing his eyes. Davey wished he could take a picture of this moment and keep it in his mind forever, never to forget. But instead of pulling out his phone to take a picture, he just took it all in- because some things couldnât be captured by a camera or a pen- and Jack Kelly was one of them.
âYeah?â
âI love you.â
âI love you, too.â
Davey moved his hand down, to cup Jackâs cheek in his hand. David felt like his head was spinning. He almost ready to believe that Jack hadnât just said that and that Davey had imagined it all, but the feel of Jackâs lips against his convinced him well enough.
Their first kiss had been desperate and messy where this one was gentle and careful. Jackâs hands ran through Daveyâs hair and Davey pulled the other boy closer to him, wrapping his arms around his waist.
âDamn, Jack, weâre both so oblivious.â
Dave felt Jack grin as they kissed. It felt like the most natural thing in the world. Davey could have done it for forever.

I wanted to have more fun with that AU I did, (Javid, Sprace, Blush)
Spot was huddled on his bed under a lot of blankets. Sneezes came from under the mound, followed by cursing in a heavy Brooklyn Accent. He hated being sick, it meant he couldnât do anything and he was exhausted all day. He hated it beyond all other things (Besides fighting with Race, though that was much much more a mess of anxiety).
The door to the apartment opened, and shouting filled the apartment. Spot flinched, burrowing further into his blankets. It sounded like Jack and Sarah. A slightly meeker voice was probably either David or Race. Either way, if he wanted to hide in the bathroom without anyone seeing him it was too late. Spot was clumsy when he was sick. Â
The shouting moved down the hall, and Spot could make out the conversation. â-Why on earth Jack?! You are breaking his heart.â
âI need some space! Itâs just for a week.â
âYou told him you didnât want him to come along!â
Spot got up the energy to go to his door, but the dull âsmack!â of a hand on flesh made him freeze. Backing up, he was tempted to make a mad dash for the bathroom, but he knew it wouldnât work. There was no way they wouldnât see him. A door down the hallway was yanked open then slammed shut. Crawling back into bed and huddling under his blankets, he hoped to the end of the earth and back that the argument was over.
No such luck.Â
The argument was back in full force, this time between who he knew was Race and Sarah. âWhat the hell Sarah?! I mean, what?â
âHe deserved it!
âWe both know how he was raised, heâs going to be freaking out until someone calls David.â
âDavid wonât come whatever is going on! Itâs the entire reason we are here in the first place!â
Spotâs door was thrown open, and Spot looked up in fear before scrambling under the bed and hoping whoever was coming in wouldnât have seen him.
âSpot? Spotty, what are you doing under the bed?â
Spot refused to move, like a scared cat. Raceâs feet came closer, then he kneeled down and looked under the bed. Spot took that opportunity to scoot out and make a mad run for the bathroom.Â
The bathroom was locked. Spot wiggled the doorknob frantically, and finely the lock clicked open.Â
Spot was in like a whirlwind and found Jack. He barely acknowledged Jack and scrambled into the bathtub. He was shivering, but at least the tub offered some sense of security. The door and lock snapped shut behind him, and Spot started to relax a little. He still refused to move from the tub though.
It was maybe a few hours later that someone knocked on the door. Spot had fallen asleep, but the sudden noise woke him up. The air of âDangerâ was still hanging around, but a quick peep over the edge of the tub confirmed that someone else had joined them.Â
Apparently Blink had decided to join Spot and Jack, and had seated himself against the cabinet. He wasnât wearing his eye patch, which was a little disconcerting. Jack was huddled by the toilet, wide awake and watching the door with fear. Spot huddled down into the tub.Â
Blink was the only one who spoke, the other two far to scared. âWho is it?â
âItâs Mush, David, and Race.â
Jack looked up like a hopeful puppy. Spot had no inclination to get out of the tub, but poked his head over the tub edge.Â
Jack was the one to open the bathroom door, but he was back in the corner withen seconds. On the other side of the door stood Race (Who looked like he had been crying), David (Who had also been crying from the looks of it) and Mush (Who was the calmest). Standing behind them where Sarah and Kathrine.Â
David was the first in and wrapped his arms around Jack. Jack wrapped his arms around his boyfriend and they both started crying. Mush sat next to Blink, and Blink leaned on him, closing his eyes.
Race didnât seem sure what to do. Spot glanced outside, before nervously getting out of the tub and facing Race. Race went to hug Spot, and he leaned right into it. Burrowing his face in Raceâs neck, he refused to let himself cry. His legs were shaky. He took Raceâs hand, never wanting to let it go.
âCome on, letâs get you three to bed.â David said softly, careful to come off as non-threatening to the three nervous boys.Â
Everyone avoided Sarah by three feet at least. Â
Spot nearly collapsed into his bed and pulled he blankets over him. Race spread them out and made sure his boyfriend would be nice and warm, and as he was moving to leave Spotâs hand refused to let go of his.
Race smiled to himself and sat down, watching the blond sleep peacefully.
At this rate this is going to become a Thing. Whatever, itâs fun.

directions of the truth
After a lot of writer's block and google docs breaking, here is an au I've been pouring my heart in soul into. This work might be a little depressing whoops. It's based on "If we were vampires" by Jacob Isbell and the 400 Unit so I think it was bound to be a little angsty. I've gotten a huge motivation to write recently and this was one of the results. I hope you enjoy this and I'm sorry it's angsty. Also, a lot of headcanons went into this - like a lot. Some are my own, but some are not. I'll tag and link the people but the big huge one I just added is @we-are-inevitable 's Sporty Davey headcanons (it'll make sense). Likes/reblogs/feedback, in general, is all very much appreciated. Another quick note before I start: I'm really trying to experiment with a mix of italics and normal text more than usual, so let me know what you think? It's specifically for this story since so much of it goes through events but in general I don't want it to be too annoying. Iâm gonna stop rambling now so you guys can read this.
David Jacobs had an okay life. He had loving parents and siblings he was close to, a loving husband, and two amazing kids. He had friends and a well-paying job. All he worked hard for was worth it - he was content. It's a tough thing to watch it go, even as it happens naturally.
The life, love, and death of David "Davey" Jacobs.

Summary: Racetrack Higgins had a soulmate.
They had deep, beautiful brown eyes. They didnât have a good living situation, if the dark brown spots that covered his back and slashes over his ribs were anything to go by. They were ambidextrous, and they had been cutting neat lines into their arms since Race was 14.
Spot Conlon had a soulmate.
They had bright blue eyes, never seemed to get hurt badly, and were perfect. In every way, Spot was convinced. They wouldn't want him. He was convinced of that too.

Anastasia Newsbians AU part 1/?
Hi! Iâm posting this to kind of gauge an audience to see if I want pursue this AU or if I want to continue it in this format. Let me know your thoughts! Anastasia is one of my three favorite musicals (I saw the OBC and it was the first ever show Zach Adkins was on as Dmitryâs udnerstudy) so Iâm pretty for continuing this AU
*tw: minor character death, gun violence, symptoms of PTSD, communism also just a teeny bit of a Delancey redemption (Morris is Gleb idek if you could call that a redemption)
Also, we all know what communism did to Russia, but also please remember that the czars were not great for Russia either. Thereâs a reason the people revolted. Iâm changing it up some and making the Jacobs a better ruling family (implying, really), but please remember the inspiration behind this piece/the movie&musical and that the Romanovâs probably were not great people eitherÂ
- Itâs the night of a great ball thrown by the Jacobs family, the ruling family of Russia. Esther and Mayer proceed to tuck their 7 children into bed, Sarah being the oldest, then Davey, and the youngest being Les, before going to join their guests in the festivities. When the door closes, most of the children stay in their bed, but Davey and Les walk to their sisters bed because the next morning, their sister will be traveling to Paris to attend boarding school and to meet potential suitors. Sheâs not looking forward to it exactly, but she loves the city of Paris and often told her two favorite brothers many stories of the other times sheâs visited France with Esther or for other reasons.Â
- Theyâre so sad to see their sister leave, but they know sheâll have a great time in Paris. As a parting gift, she gives Davey a music box their mother gave to her. She said it was a great piece of art representing their country, so it should stay in their country. The three of them listen to it together (it plays the beginning notes of Seize the Day that Davey sings) and eventually fall asleep in a little huddle.Â
- Instead of being woken up by morning, theyâre woken up by a loud bang of a gun. While their other siblings are crying, Davey and Les just look to Sarah who shushes them quietly so they worry in silence. Sarah also tries to silence her other brothers and sisters, but theyâre too preoccupied with wanting Esther or Mayer or one of the staff to come and tell them that everythingâs all right than to listen to their sister. It breaks her heart terribly, but she takes her two brothers and they flee from their room (leaving the music box) to navigate through one of the hidden corridors in the wall the children often use to escape into the kitchen at night to steal bites of food.Â
- Sarah makes sure the kitchen is clear of any danger before ushering her brothers out of the tunnel, and she tries to lead them to a exit. She makes sure to tell them to keep their eyes forward to try and keep them from seeing anything that they wouldnât want to see. Unfortunately, she get glimpses of whatâs going on in the main areas of the palace including fires, gunshots, blood, and the echo of screams. All she can do, though, is try to get her brothers to somewhere safe and pray for the rest of her family. She doesnât even know if her parents are alive, much less where they could be.Â
- With luck and stealth, which is hard because Les is only 5 at this point, they make it out of the palace without being seen. Sarah hopes that theyâre home free, but some villagers were apparently also revolutionists and they chase the children to the train station. Sarah knows her train was supposed to leave at dawn, and luckily, the sun is inches away from rising, so she goes directly to the train yard with her brothers in tow. The danger of the situation gives her enough adrenaline to push forward and drag her brothers behind her with all the strength she has. Luckily, the train is full with passengers by the time they see it, but the villagers are not far behind.Â
-Â âGrab your brother,â she orders to Davey who does as told. He slows down from having to run for dear life and having to hold his baby brother up, but as they approach the back of the train, Sarah moves so sheâs now behind her two brothers. Luckily, some of the train passengers are sympathetic to the children, and they reach down to help Davey and Les up onto the train. Sarah pushes Davey into the arms of the strangers as he screams in protest because he doesnât want to leave his sister.Â
- Right when his feet hit the train platform, he reaches behind him to get Sarah up onto the train, but sheâs a hair too far as the train starts moving. She tries to reach for them, but itâs no use. She stumbles right as a gunshot goes off. Davey screams, thinking the shot was what made her fall to the ground, but she hits her head on the train track and passes out as the train rolls into the sun.Â
- 10 years later-
- Kath is walking the streets of St. Petersburg, sorry, Leningrad, as people try to peddle so called artifacts from the Jacobs family which they pillaged from the palace after the siege 10 years ago. She knows that if the plan is to work out, she needs an artifact from the palace, but, also, a pair of pajamas, an obscure painting, even some random thing initialed with an A would not cut it. It had to be something authentic looking, something extravagant and royal looking. Something... âHow much for that music box?â Kath asks one of the vendors advertising a bejeweled music box. It was fancy looking enough to possibly be authentic. âItâs genuine Jacobs! I could never part with it!â the vendor exclaims, feigning attachment, but in post revolution Russia, everything had a price.Â
- âTwo cans of beans, comrade?âÂ
- âDone.â Kath catches the music box and tries to open it, but it proves to be pretty tough. She canât it which makes her want to try and get her two cans of beans back, but the conman had vanished. Jack, her âbusinessâ partner walks up to her and she tries to get him to open it, but it wonât budge for him either. They keep it anyhow.Â
- Not far off, a truck makes a loud âboomâ sound causing the street sweeper next to fall to the ground, shouting and covering her head. One of the generals, Morris Delancey, is walking by and observes the woman for a moment. âIt was just a truck backfiring, comrade. Thatâs all it was. Those days are over, neighbor against neighbor. Thereâs nothing to be afraid of,â he reassures her, but the woman is shaking. He is suddenly concerned, strangely. âThereâs a tea shop just down the way, just let me-â he tries to offer to buy the woman a cup, but she sharply, yet politely, declines. âThank you, but I canât lose this job,â she explains. âTheyâre not easy to come by. Again, thank you.â And sheâs gone.Â

Could you do 76 for the javid prompts? đ
This one was really fun to write. So I took it to the extreme of doing another really long fic.
Constant Pining is a Constant Annoyance
Davey regretted agreeing to play hide-and-seek with his friends. It wasnât that Davey didnât like playing the game at Kathâs house(when her father was gone). It was that they always insisted on partnering up to hide, making it extremely hard to find a good hiding spot. Of course this wasnât the only reason. Maybe it was that, no matter what, his partner was always Jack.
Always.
Sure Jack was his crush best friend and he was good at finding a good hiding spot, but Jack was so oblivious to the fact that all of their friends tried to get them stuck together long enough to confess their undying love for each other and make out. When Davey asked Sarah why they did this, she said that their âconstant pining was a constant annoyanceâ.
Davey was pretty much convinced that all of his friends were idiots, since Davey never pined over Jack Kelly or over anyone else frankly, no matter what Sarah or any of his friends insisted. He couldnât even say that Jack pined over him or even flirted with him. Sure Jack could sometimes be a little bit intimate with him. Davey did always find himself with Jackâs arm casually thrown around his shoulder or Jack sitting too close to him on the couch- it was something he did with all of his friends.
Jack was straight, anyways, he couldnât be into Davey like that, anyways.
Sure, Davey was slightly attracted to Jack- but only slightly. Only ever slightly. He wouldnât let himself fall for his best friend. That was one thing he was for sure of. Maybe, Daveyâs heart did flutter a little bit when Jack walked into the room or smiled at him, but that happened to everyone, right?
But no matter Daveyâs slight attraction to his best friend, he would never give Spot, Race, or Crutchie the satisfaction of being right, especially not about this.So when, in the unlikely event that, Jack and Davey decide to hide in a closet, with no lights(or at least lights they could find), that was just the right size for the both of them, Race, Spot, Romeo, and Crutchie discover their hiding place, Davey wasnât the happiest camper.
Davey, of course, knew that they shouldnât have hid in the closet, but it was a last resort. Kath and Sarah had stolen their hiding spot, Spot and Race were almost done counting, so they had to hide somewhere fast, and if the king of Brooklyn and his boyfriend found them out in the open, they would never hear the end of it. So Davey spent at least the next few minutes pressed against Jack, trying to remain as quiet as humanly possible.
Then they heard it.
âFound ya!â He felt Jackâs arm tense up against his. Spot and Race had just found someone in the room.
âDammit, Romeo. I told you we shouldnât have hid here.â Crutchie, most likely, said.
âIt looked good at the time.â
âWhatever, we found you, now, so do you know where Jack and Davey hid?â Davey glanced at Jack, who was biting his lip, while staring through the door. He so badly wanted to kiss Jack, but fought the temptation. Jack wouldnât appreciate that.
âNo, Race, you canât ask them that. That would be cheating.â
âWell, hypothetically speaking⌠we may or may not have seen them go in that closet.â Romeo said, swiftly. âOnly hypothetically, of courseâ
âAnd hypothetically speaking⌠we could stop the constant pining between the two if we locked them in there together.â
âYou guys know that they would be able to hear you, if they were in that closet, right?â
âWell, I can go and check.â
Shit. This couldnât be happening. Even with no light he could see the faint outline of a key hole below the door handle. They would lock them in here until what? Davey and Jack got together. That wouldnât be happening.
The door opened, Raceâs head emerging and disappearing for a split second, with the light that spilled in from the other room. The door slammed shut and was locked with a Click!.
âTheyâre in there.â
âAnd you just locked them in?â
âYeah.â
âWell, letâs at least tell them why theyâre locked in there together.â
âOkay.â
âHey, Jack, Davey. You arenât going to come out of that closet, until you both confess your love for the other. Weâll come back and check on you in thirty or so minutes. If you havenât sorted things out by then, weâll leave you in there for another thirty minutes.â Spot shouted, through the door.
Davey stood up, trying to push against the door, but it wouldnât budge.
âI think weâre stuck.â Davey said.
âI know.â He sat down next to Jack, who wasnât normally this quiet.
âSomething wrong?â
âNo just thinking.â
Davey nodded, leaving the other boy to his thoughts. This was going to be a long thirty minutes. He himself was pretty certain, that when Spot, Race, Crutchie, and Romeo came back to get Jack and Davey, he would have some words for them. So instead of letting Jack and Davey out of the closet like normal human beings would do, they decided to lock the door. Classic.
âDo you think that theyâll really keep us in here if we donât get together?â Jack asked, interrupting Daveyâs thoughts.
âI wouldnât be surprised if they did.â
âWouldnât Sarah and Kath stop them?â
Davey snorted. Sarah and Kath had expressed many times that both tired of their nonexistent âpiningâ. âNo, Sarahâs convinced weâre in love.â
âReally?â
âYeah. She and Kath probably orchestrated this whole thing together.â Davey said and then added, âI mean sure Iâm gay, but none of them seem to understand that youâre not.â
âWellâŚâ Jack admitted, pushing himself up so he could sit more comfortably. I am a little bit gay.â
âWhat?â Davey asked, turning to Jack. He was almost positive he was losing his hearing, because if he heard Jack correctly - no way could he have heard Jack say that.
âDid you think I was straight this entire time?â Jack raised his eye brow at him, dead serious.
âYeah.â
âNo. Never have been. Never will be.â
âBut youâve dated girls before.â Davey protested. For some reason, he couldnât believe that Jack was attracted to men. Maybe itâs because Iâm hoping heâs secretly attracted that to me Davey thought.
âIâm bi, Davey. Wasnât that obvious?â
âYou never came out, though.â
âYeah, I figured everybody knew by now, especially you. Every single day, I flirted withâŚâ
âWith who?â Davey asked, curiously. He recollected his memory, but couldnât think of any instances where he saw Jack flirt with some guy, everyday.
âNo one, Davey. Doesnât matter.â Jack said, standing up. He looked anywhere, but at Davey.
âWell, if it doesnât matter, why donât you tell me?â Davey questioned. He was genuinely curious, now. Who could Jack like?
âDave, I-â
âJackie, just tell me. Iâm your best friend.â
âFine, as long as you promise not to judge me.â Jack said, looking down at Davey.
âI promise.â
âOkay. Could you uhm- just turn around, while I tell you? I donât think I can tell you, if youâre looking at me.â Jack asked, nervously.
âSure, Jack.â Davey tried to turn around to face the wall, but had to stand up. There just wasnât enough room in the closet.
âWell, Davey I- I- uhâŚ.â Jack muttered, stumbling on his words.
âJack, you donât have to tell me if you donât want to.â Davey said, trying to reassure his friend.
âNo, no. Dave, I want to. Itâs just⌠Iâve got to get this off my chest now or I doubt I ever will.â
âOkay, just take your time.â
âOkayâŚ. I- uh⌠I was- well⌠I was talking about you earlier.â
Davey felt his mouth go dry and his heart pound just a bit faster. His heart practically screaming at him to turn around and kiss Jack, while his brain ordered him to stay there, silently and think for. Whatever he did next he couldnât take back. He needed to be certain. He needed to think.
But just the idea made his head spin. Jack Kelly? Attracted to him? No way. Jack had to be joking, right? Davey wanted to believe he would have noticed the-not-so-subtle Jack Kelly flirting with him or was he just that oblivious? Maybe Sarah and them had been right. Maybe there was some tension between the two that needed to be resolved.
âWait, you mean youâre attracted me?â Davey asked, wanting to make sure he wasnât going crazy.
âYeah, Davey I am. I mean, I really sort of love you.â
âOhâŚâ Davey gasped. He needed some time to fully process the new information he was given.
Jack Kelly loved him. Jack Kelly was not only attracted to him, but loved him also. He wasnât sure what to think. Sure he was attracted to Jack, but when it came down to it, did Davey love him? Had Davey not been honest with even himself? It was the secret everyone knew, except for the two people who deserved to hear it the most.
âYeahâŚâ Jack said awkwardly, interrupting Daveyâs thoughts. âI- uh- if you donât want to be friends with me anymore, I under-â
âJack, what the hell are you talking about? Of course, I still want to be your friend.â Davey said, without hesitation. That was one thing his head and heart could agree upon. Jack Kelly would always be his friend, romantic feelings or not.
âOhâŚâ
âJack, is it fine if I turn around now?â Davey asked, almost certain.
âSure.â
He turned to see Jack with tears running silently from his eyes. Jack tried to look anywhere but at him. Before he could stop himself, Davey wrapped his arms around the smaller boy.
âJack, I love you.â Davey said with absolute certainty. Jack grabbed onto him, wrapping his arms around Daveyâs back and burying his face into the crook of Daveyâs neck. Davey kissed the top of Jackâs head, rubbing Jackâs back.
âThank you.â Jack whispered, making Daveyâs neck tickle.
âYou donât need to say thank you.â
âI was just so afraid, you wouldnât even want to be my friend anymore.â Jack mumbled, âI thought there was not even one chance that you would like me.â
âI didnât think you would like me either. It just took me forever to process what you said.â Davey and Jack both laughed.
Jack came out from Daveyâs neck, his tears gone. He was staring right into Daveyâs eyes. âWould you mind if I kissed you, Dave?â
âWould be an honor.â Davey smiled as Jack brought his hands to caress his cheeks.
âYouâre so beautiful,â Jack said, as he pecked Daveyâs lips.
âThatâs it?â Davey asked, âYouâve got to give me a real kiss.â
âOh fine,â Jack agreed, laughing a bit. He brought Daveyâs face down to his lips, and kissed him, then pulled back for another second.
âI guess constant pining is a constant annoyance, but it does have a pay off.â
âJust shut up and kiss me.â Davey said, giggling.
âMmmhmmm.â Jack hummed as he kissed Davey, finally.
This time a proper kiss. Davey grinned into the kiss, running his hands through Jackâs hair. The world could have ended in that moment and he would have cared less. The asteroid, that would cause the next mass extinction could have hit earth, he still would have been content. Davey would have died a happy man.
âFinally, you two worked things out.â
Davey pulled away from Jack, once he heard the door open. He turned to see Spot and Race, peering into the closet as the light flooded in.âUhhhâŚâ Jack mumbled, awkwardly.
âDo you think you could give us a few more minutes?â Davey asked. Spot closed the door, rolling his eyes. Jack laughed, reaching up to kiss Davey, who happily complied.
